If you are interested in seeing the gorge itself, there is a movie 'Navada Smith,' an old western movie (shot in the 1970s). You can rent it from 百事達 and see the gorge. It's pretty.
The movie's Chinese title is「西部浪子」, one of my personal favorites (an old timer's old-time movie, isn't it?). By the way, the Owens is also famed for its quality trout fishing.
