給朱敏中先生的話---From Matt Robertson
My deepest condolances from my heart
to all the family and friends of Chu Ming-chung.
This is a loss to the climbing community
and to everyone who knew him.
We will miss seeing his smile.
I was lucky to become friends with Chu Ming-chung
this year, and we often met at Long Dong.
He was very thoughtful and always
asked me about my project
and encouraged me on it.
We both loved to talk about climbing
and climbing ethics and style,
and also about boxing.
He really knew a lot about boxing,
and one day we sat by the wooden foot-bridge
and talked for a long time
about the great middleweight fighters of the
1980's like Sugar Ray Leonard
and Marvelous Marvin Hagler.
Later we both climbed nearby traditional
routes at the same time -- he led up the Long
Arete, while I climbed the Whale's Head --
and as we both sat belaying atop
our climbs looking out at the beautiful ocean,
we shared a wave and another friendly laugh,
and we were brothers at that moment.
We may all feel saddened by this loss, but it's
important to remember that
Chu Ming-chung left this world while doing
something he loved. His smile and kindness
and friendly nature can remain in our
memories and continue to
brighten our lives.
